The Big Apple

Will, Abigail and I visited New York City over the weekend. We were there to meet with some missionaries from the missions organization that we just got accepted into. (www.worldteam.org). They have an amazing ministry that we felt God calling us to be a part of. They disciple international grad students at NYU and Columbia (mostly Chinese and Taiwanese). They teach them English, then do Bible Studies, and train them to start up house churches. So, when they go back to their countries, they have the tools to start house churches in their home town. The people are likely to be more receptive of them, then they Will be of Americans going into their country telling them what to believe.

Anyway, so we went up and stayed with the missionaries, went to a couple conversation groups and a bible study. And then on Friday night, they had a Valentine's Day party for the Internationals. It was exhausting, but we got a glimpse into what life would be like if we became a part of the ministry. And we got invited to join the team! So we're so excited! Our next step is to start talking to churches and raising support (fun fun). We're expecting that this will be about 2 years to do. Then, we'll be heading up to NYC! We're excited about this next adventure the Lord is sending us on.

We did get to actually visit the city a little bit. I will post some of those pictures later. Right now, I have to go feed the Princess.

First Christmas!

Ok, so I'm over a month late....but we're still singing Christmas songs around here, so it still counts.



Abigail's first Christmas was so much fun! At the beginning of December, she saw Santa. She did so good! Didn't seem interested in the fat guy in the red suit, but she didn't cry either. She was more interested in the big light in front of her.

We loved the Phipps Santa and Will and I want to make it a yearly tradition to see him.

Christmas Eve we spent at my dad's house. My entire family was there including my stepbrothers and their families. So there were a bunch of people! She got a little overwhelmed by the chaos (she takes this after me), but she did so good! She got so many wonderful gifts. Most of which she's too little for right now, including a Radio Flyer Rocking Horse. So can't wait to break that in!

Christmas Day we woke up and did presents and stockings before heading over to her Nana and Papa's house. Then we spent the day with them and went to the movies. (Yes, even Abigail goes to the movies and loves them! Being movie buffs, Will and I are taking full advantage of this while we can). It was such a laid back wonderful day.

I'm Bad At This!

I'm a horrible blogger, obviously. Abigail is now 4 and a half months old! Can you believe it? Here are few things about her:

• At her 4 month appointment she was 14 lbs and 1 oz. She's a lot smaller than she seems to me!




• She's a "talker". She "talks" A LOT! Definitely a Guzman!




• She laughs so much! She loves being sung to and loves dancing. She laughs hysterically when you sing and dance.




• She hates sleep, it makes me wonder if she really is my child. She doesn't nap and then still wakes up 3 times a night. But even with no sleep, she is such a happy girl! She gets that from her Daddy.



• We started feeding her rice cereal a couple weeks ago. She's still not sure, but is starting to get the hang of it.



• She blows raspberries. When she gets upset/tired/hungry, she starts blowing slobber all of the place. Its really funny. I do it back and she starts laughing.



• She loves her baby. My mom got her a doll for Christmas and she adores it. She'll nap with her.
  
• When she wakes up in the morning and she looks at me, it takes her a minute then she gets the biggest smile on her face like, "Hey! I know you!!" It makes my heart melt everytime

I'm hoping to get a video camera soon so I can start documenting her laugh. Its the sweetest sound ever!
